Workshop of the COST Action CA19129 “Development: Research, Teaching and Practice” at the Institute of Sociology

On October 17–19, the LCSS Institute of Sociology hosted a visit of scientists from the COST Action
CA19129 “Decolonising Development: Research, Teaching and Practice”, including Dr. Haley McEwen
(USA / Sweden), Dr. Svitlana Babenko (Ukraine / Sweden), and Dr. Ana Cristina Pereira, aka Kitty
Furtado (Portugal).

During this three-day visit, the scientists shared their research insights and participated in the
methodological activities of decolonial walks.

In October 18, a scientific workshop “Workshopping Decolonial Feminist Theory: A Transnational
Exchange” was organised at the LCSS Institute of Sociology. In the workshop, three talks were followed by discussions:

  • Dr. Haley McEwen (Gothenburg University) “Decolonial Feminist Theory: Insights from Africa”;
  • Dr. Svitlana Babenko (Malmö University, Lund University) “Rethinking Gender, War, and Peace-making: Insights from Ukraine”;
  • Dr. Ana Cristina Pereira, aka Kitty Furtado (Minho University) “Sexual Misconduct in Academia: Insights from Portugal”.

Scientists of the Department of Social Change Research of the LCSS Institute of Sociology Dr. Diana
Janušauskienė and Dr. Giedrė Plepytė-Davidavičienė are taking part in the COST Action CA19129
“Decolonising Development: Research, Teaching and Practice”.
